What your first appointment looks like
When you arrive, we’ll have a few quick things to confirm at the front desk — your forms, which you can fill out ahead of time, and your insurance details. Then we’ll bring you back, get you settled, and start getting to know you.
Your first visit usually includes a comprehensive exam, X-rays if you’re due for them, and a cleaning. Dr. Arianna Cole or Dr. David Cole will sit down with you, look carefully at your teeth and gums, and talk through anything we see — in plain language, without scare tactics.
If there’s nothing pressing, we’ll tell you. If there’s something to address, we’ll explain it clearly and help you figure out what makes sense.
Plan on around 60 to 90 minutes for a typical first visit. We’ll never rush you out the door, and you’ll leave knowing what’s going on with your teeth and what, if anything, is next.
A few things to do before your visit
- Fill out your forms — We’ll send your new patient forms ahead of time so you can fill them out before your visit instead of in the waiting room.
- Bring what you have — Bring a photo ID and your insurance card, if you have one. If you’ve had recent dental X-rays elsewhere, we can often request them — just let us know where.
- Tell us if you’re nervous — We work with anxious patients all the time. Just say so when you arrive, and we’ll go at your pace. There’s no judgment here.
